Bay Street, the New
Rodeo Drive Of Restaurants?
A street in Double Bay has been described as the Rodeo Drive of Sydney restaurants.
Bay Street has been welcoming high-end restaurants for some time now, and with the latest inclusion of a new Japanese 140-seat Asian eatery and jazz bar it's set to further cement its reputatio for innovative fine dining.
It's the brainchild of Eddie Levy and Adam Abrams of Matteo fame.
“We’re excited about broadening our footprint in the area we’ve both grown up in,” Levy told Good Food. The restaurant will open just two doors from Matteo, with the bar to have its own “speakeasy”-style entrance.
Add this to the massive success of Neil Perry's Margaret and you can easily see why Bay Street is on the up and up.

A Little Bit of History
For Local History Buffs
Mort Cottage at the Ocean Avenue end of Cross Street, Double Bay was the home of Thomas Mort from 1848. He was a driving force in shaping much of our modern society.
His initial and most lasting legacy was to be responsible for rationalising the sale of wool as it emerged as the nation’s staple commodity.
The public auctioneering system enabled local producers to stand apart from the London-based brokers who made vast profits from exploiting colonial produce.
Mort's impact as an early founder of Australia was huge but not often remembered today.
